Creating smarter, more comfortable homes with Remo

Nature Remo is a smart remote that makes your entire home ‘smart’ by connecting your home appliances to the Internet. Tinker with the AC, operate the TV or change the lighting on the go from your phone, thanks to AI speaker voice control.

Issues and challenges

Remo is an IoT that controls home appliances, which meant it needed seamless connection settings and a control screen for each appliance. I had to navigate a complicated app set-up and streamline the appliance operations, while making the entire user experience beautiful, simple and intuitive.

Solutions and results

I delivered almost 200+ screens. They handled everything from research and wireframes, to UI flow creation, interface design and UX validation. Six months after the project started, the app launched.

Remo device was released shortly after, to resounding success. Japanese consumers were thrilled to have a tool that made the hot summers more bearable, and sales soared. 300,000+ additional units were put into production.

Nature Remo E

Energy management is the monitoring and optimization of electricity usage. If energy management can be done well, it can save energy, reduce electricity bills, and lead to more efficient use of limited earth resources.

With Nature Remo E, we wanted to make home energy management, which used to be a difficult task, easy for anyone to use. Real-time monitoring of power generation, storage, and other power status, as well as monitoring of past power consumption, via a smartphone app,

The app also makes it easy to control solar panels, storage batteries, and EV power stations. Nature Remo E is a product that brings an energy management lifestyle to everyone, and makes the future of electric power brighter. That is Nature Remo E.

I worked with another designer on the UI/UX of the mobile app for Nature Remo E. After this project, I left Nature Remo project.
